Smoking.

First of all, this story is rated PG 18. Thanks for your viewing.

"This isn't a romantic movie at all. No. This is about what happened to me, really. No fiction at all. No. Shall I begin?" he asked.
"Okay. Here it goes." he said and stared on the audiences, clears his throat and blinked his eyes, trying to speak. Then he clams down.
He took out a piece of paper and said,"Well. Hello everyone. Surprising seeing so many people here. I'm gonna get into the point. Today's speech is about smoking. As we all know, smoking is hazardous to health, so hazardous to health that it could take lives, it was like an angel of death, awaiting the person to fall ill and then instantly grasping hold of the soul and leaves earth without much word. Smoking are influenced by peers, mates, buddies, friends and what more best friends. So as we all know it, smoking actually causes cancer, and to most of you, not only lung cancer, it could cause lips cancer, bone cancer and more other types of diseases." he said and chuckled. "I'm standing here today to tell you a story, it isn't the kind you would get at ordinary bookshelves. No. Absolutely no. If you ever find one tell me. I'll sue the writer. Okay. I'm telling you this because it is very important, quit smoking. Its not a good way of health. It bad. Its really bad when you smoke with your friends. I'm sure you all heard about second hand smoking? Yeah. That's even worst than smoking. Well, my first question for today! Show me some hands who smokes, no seriously, nothing would happen, no harm done, promised, cross my heart. Really."

"Oh wow. That's a lot. Okay. So, this story is not about you guys kay, here's the story." he said and paused for a moment, took a deep breath and finally told his story. Here's how it goes.

"I was at the age of sixteen or seventeen. I skipped school much, preferred to stay as a lazy boy. I hung out with friends and all, skipping classes, schools, went to parties, malls, cyber cafes, and guess what, I'll beat you in Dota. Seriously. Well, as you know we smoked, the four of us. While escaping one day, we saw three girls skipping school. So we decided to follow them. James, not his real name aight, was the one who introduced to us the word and thing called cigarette. He had a negative background where his father was did illegal smuggling and trading. James told us that it clears our mind, he stole one from his father and smoked. And he said it helps us clear your mind from your problems and makes us all feel invincible and as though heroes. And Dicky, not his real name too, took the first shot. He inhaled it in a few seconds and coughed it all out, we all laughed. Dicky too had a bad background, his parents are divorced. Jackie, not his real name either took the second shot and the same thing happened to him. Jackie's family was torned apart. His father was a wanted criminal, his mum left his father when he was seven. And now this. His dad became aggresive too and that was one of the reasons why she left him. Me? I took the last shot, I knew it was wrong, but who gives a shit? My mum works all day, my dad comes home at one a.m. My mum works till eleven and guess what, I'm getting an allowance of six hundred per month. I do not like it. Nope, not at all. All I want was some attention, instead they treated me with something else. I took a smoke and inhaled it deeply, being a novice, I choked and coughed it all out. I felt a little warmness on my throat, it tickled me and I blurped it out and coughed. We laughed at each other and since then after school we started smoking, even when we could find free time we smoked. And we met with four hot girls from our school, well they seemed pretty to us. They were Jessica, Veronica, Melody and Christina. We don't really know Christina, she did not like smokers so we didn't really bother her much. But the three were hot. Chics. Really." he said and smiled to himself.

"Oh sorry. Drifted away. Anyway. Well you see, the seven of us smoked like a hell lot. Like hell lot. We could smoke four to seven times a day. Yeap. One box in one day. Cigarettes ain't that cheap anymore you all know right? So yeah, we turned to robbery. We robbed a 'mamak' first. Yeah. The seven of us. We robbed the 'mamak' of its cigarettes and one thousand cash. Obviuosly we sold half the cigarettes for a lower price but we still got profit, its not ours. We would take walks in the night and visit restaurants to sell out cigarettes. After that, we would buy new cigarettes. We were couples, obviously, I found eye contact with Jessica. Oh, that pretty lady. Well, as negatively brought us teenagers, we indulged in you know what, sex. Yes. I'm not afraid to say it, its the past. I'll admit it. Really. But seriously, do not try this. Really. Keep your religion and do not try this. Never. Till you get married of course. Well. So we did. It was fun at first. We went to James's house as his parents aren't always home. They're always out, working. We skipped Fridays, soemtimes. And we would have done it by noon. So yeah. I'm not gonna explain in detail but yeah. After doing that we smoked and it went from once a week to a few times a week and to regularly. James, being a pornographic watcher told us about ways to have sex, so it became more fun for us, you know, sixteen year olds. Yeah. And we all dumbly believed him and followed." he said and sighed.

"Well. The bad news came in one day. Jessica was pregnant, I always thought of what are the odds of her getting pregnant. Well, it was answered. I went into almost shock. I couldn't believe my ears. I finally told James, calmly he answered me and said, oh just get an abortion man! I was like okay. I decided not to do an abortion. I decided to take responsibilities. I decided to keep the baby. Jessica being herself knows how to cover it all up. Yeah, she covered it for six months. And on and off she went to school after that, I was always with her. Her parents did not know of anything. Yeah. Nothing. After she was pregnant, I started to fear sex, yeah. haha. but we didn't stop smoking even though I knew it was bad for her. I tried to stop her from smoking but she keep insisting that she wanted to follow me smoke, or accompany me to smoke, even though I strongly objected it, but oh, after one hour of argument I shunned and kept silent, she won. I loved her. Didn't want to break her heart. Finally, when we were nineteen, Jessica passed out during work, her employer admitted her into the hospital. We have already expected our baby, thanks to James's father. She was rushed into the hospital and she dialled my number as an emergency number. I rushed to the hospital." he said and stared at everyone, all attentively listening to his story and paused. "You all need a break?"

"No.." came the answers.
"Okay. I went to see the doctor and he was a nice man. A very nice man. The doctor told me the hurtful words. I'm sorry, she's diagnosed with lung cancer, ovary cancer, cervical cancer, leukemia, breast cancer and brain cancer. I'm sorry. The moment I heard those words my world fell. We were saving up for an apartment where we could live together and probably get married the very next year. The doctor also said that her lungs weren't functioning at a hundred percent, but merely ten. My eyes turned red, my body felt like it was aching, my head was spinning, I felt awkward. I passed out. All I remember was I loved my girlfriend and wife very much. The doctor told me also that thank goodness our daugther was not diagnosed with diseases. Yeah, thank goodness. Finally she passed away at the age of twenty, seven days after her birthday, and fighting to survive for a month. I cried non stop for months and months, day and night, my daugther didn't know as I cried silently in my room, silently I regretted smoking with her. I regretted having sexual intercourse when we were so young, but I felt thankful for my daugther. My world plunged into a world of misery and hopelessness, useless. Then one day when my daughter went to kindergarten, I stared at the cigarette box and threw it all around the house. I was pissed. Pissed at cigarettes who caused the death of a loved one. Then suddenly with tears I collected them, memories of Jessica and me flashed back. I packed the cigarette boxes and then sold them all for a heavy price. With that money I paid all I owned to James's father, but being so close with them, he gave me a 50% discount, another nice man in an evil body. I bought food and clothes and toys for Sara. She was 2 years old. Oh yeah, she is a girl. I rented the apartment that Jessica and I had already rented a year ago. I worked my way up from there. And now, I;m telling you, cigarettes ain't my friends anymore. They're my enemy. They ain't here to clear your mind of problems, no, they're here to unleash another hell on you. Its a slowly murderous murderer. Get what I meant? Yeah, but you know, I love Sara a lot, my daugther. She looks exactly like her mum don't she? Everyone says she's beautiful, yeap, I agree, definitely, her mum's beautiful face. I'm thirty nine now and she's nineteen. Ain't kids beautiful? They are if you treat them with what they are like themselves, do not force them no matter what. Stay healthly people. Stay away from cigarettes. It could cost not your life, I quit smoking. It was hard at first but yeah. I did that the hard way you know? I worked all hard while Sara was playing by herself at the corner, I still remember. I'm still young. One last point, do not take cigarettes. It kills. In behalf of my wife, I'm saying this. Stay away from cigarettes at all costs. If you have already been addicted, try the rehabilitation centres and you wouldn't regret. You don't want to watch your loved one die do you? Don't be me. Stay as healthy as possible and live happily ever after, yeah they do exist."

"THANKS! I LOVE YOU DADDY!"
"Yeah I love you too." he said and smiled.
